Old Town

The Old Town of Warsaw is a picturesque cacophony of thin tall houses jumbled on top of one another just to squeeze them into the tight refuge within the medieval town walls. The colourful facades of the houses are one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city. But the Old Town offers so much more: the cozy marketsquare with the iconic sculpture of the Warsaw mermaid - the official symbol of the city, the impressive fortifications of the Barbican. And just outside its fortified gate there stands the house where Maria Skłodowska, better known as Marie Curie was born.
