Palace of Culture and Science
The Palace of Culture and Science, formely known as The Palace of Culture and Science of Joseph Stalin (the last part of the name was dropped, because Stalin has never been very popular among Poles) is not only the tallest (237 metres) but also the most controversial structure in all Poland. Despite its troubled origins however, the Palace continues to serve the people and is nowadays a protected historical monument. Its confines offer the biggest concert hall in Warsaw, a university, office space, 4 theatres, 2 museums, exhibition hall, a cinema complex, its own post office, a swimming pool with diving boards, a view terrace... you name it. The palace could declare independence and become a self-sufficient state.
